What makes a good plot?

We’d love to hear from you, whatever you use your land for. Registering doesn’t tie you into anything - and while things move faster without tricky access, protected wildlife, or heritage designations, it’s always worth a chat.

How it works

We take care of everything – from seeing if your land is suitable, to actually building the project. We cover all the cost and risk, so you don’t have to. Generally, the start-to-finish process looks like this:

1. Quick land check

Pop your details into our registration form and we'll review your site.

2. Let's chat

If it looks good, we’ll get in touch to learn more about you, your land and the local area.

3. Further studies

We will then ask for an exclusivity period so we can run more detailed studies.

4. Offer & planning

If it still stacks up, we’ll send over a simple commercial offer while we prep the planning application.

5. Construction & beyond

Once planning’s in the bag, we’ll build the project and handle all the maintenance afterwards.

FAQs

If you’re unsure or just curious, it’s worth registering for Plots for Kilowatts. We’ll then assess things like wind speed, sunlight hours, how close your land is to neighbours, and any environmental constraints – like protected wildlife habitats, flood risk, or planning restrictions. You don’t need to have this information ready, just tell us where your land is, and we’ll handle the checks.

If your land is suitable and a project goes ahead, you’ll start earning once it starts sending green energy to the grid. For smaller projects, that can take around a year. Larger ones may take a few years, depending on planning and grid connection.

Registering your land doesn’t commit you to anything. If your land looks suitable, we’ll be in touch to talk through what kind of project might work and what the next steps would be. If you’re happy to go ahead, we’d then offer you a lease agreement that outlines the full terms. You’re free to change your mind at any point before signing.

It will depend on the project and what you’re comfortable with. Renewable energy projects usually involve a lease of 20 - 40 years.
